This course focuses on functional grammar and paragraph development. It includes extensive grammar, sentence structure, word usage, and punctuation review and requires the drafting of several paragraphs and essays. The course emphasizes the writing process: prewriting, outlining, drafting, revising and editing, and students are introduced to specific patterns of writing. Emphasis is placed also on vocabulary, spelling, and comprehension skills. Students will be provided with activities that will enable them to master the skills necessary for their main courses of study.
