Personal beautification dates back to the dawn of history, with each subsequent period contributing new approaches to beautifying the Hair, Skin, and Nails, from the 14 BC to 1970s.
Course Objectives
1. Explain the origins of personal beautification .
2. Discuss the advancement made in nail technology during the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries.
3. List several career opportunities available to a licensed nail technician.

This course provides students with an introductory overview of computers and technology which includes the Internet, World Wide Web, and the impact of technology in the business environment. Students will learn about the technology timelines and the basic functions of computer hardware and the use of software applications, system software, basic skills and the use of word processing, desktop publishing and the basic use of the Web browser and search engine.

This course is designed to provide an opportunity for students entering the institution to upgrade their basic mathematical COURSE skills and is a prerequisite for entering their technical program.REQUIRED MATERIALS

- Manipulate basic whole numbers, fractions and decimals
- Apply the rules of order of operations to evaluate expressions with numbers and to evaluate algebraic expressions when the values of the letters are given
- Solve problems involving simple equations and formulae
- Use simple equations and formulae to solve problems
- Construct and solve systems of two linear equations using elimination and substitution
- Express ratio and rate in lowest terms and solve application problems using ratio, rates, proportion, direct variation and inverse variation.
- Apply basic concepts to the metric system, involving the SI prefixes and units of measure
- Use conversion factors to change from one unit to another within the imperial and metric systems of measurement

This course will cover the fundamental principles and practices of effective public speaking from the speaker as well as the listener’s perspective. Class exercises will emphasize preparing and delivering public speeches, speaking with clarity and variety, and listening with literal and critical comprehension, overcoming nervousness and delivery of various types of speeches. Library and internet research, creative analysis and synthesis of topics as well as language delivery, reason and argumentation skills will be covered

Welcome to Tech Prep English 000!3 I am your instructor Mrs. R.Thomas. For many of you, this will be your first semester at BTVI and your first experience in the online learning environment. Many of you may be nervous and are perhaps wondering if you have what it takes to reach the finish line. As your facilitator, I am here to tell you that you CAN, but your success in this course and the others depends on one common factor. YOU. It will depend on your willingness to learn. It will depend on your grit and determination. It will depend on your mindset. My role as your facilitator is to give you the tools to be successful on your journey.
